- How much of the money I give gets to the actual orphan home?
- Is this tax deductible?
- Where do the kids come from?
Warm Blankets Orphan Care International rescues and cares for orphans in some of the most desperate places on earth. War, genocide, natural disasters, and disease claims millions of lives often leaving children behind with no one to care for them. We rescue children from refugee camps, garbage dumps, the streets, disaster areas, - and worse. We provide them with emergency care and stability while we try to reunite them with their families. When there is no family, we welcome them into a church orphan home where we provide permanent care in a family environment.
Our passion is to restore the childhoods of orphaned children, to raise them up to be disciples of Christ and leaders in their generation.
- Who cares for the kids?
The pastor of the church and his wife frequently live in the church orphan homes as home parents. We also welcome widows from the community to be caregivers in church orphan home families. We really cannot take credit for this idea. Throughout the Bible we see orphans and widows together and the church caring for them. It just makes sense. The orphans and widows need each other. They have experienced similar loss, grief, and needs. They help each other heal and recover.
- Why church homes?
The church also serves as a community center in the area. The children who were once abandoned and alone are now at the core of social activity in their village. Since orphans do not have biological parents to raise them and be role models, the relationships the children experience through the church play a vital role in their development.
- What does your monthly contribution provide?
What you give through home sponsorship provides so much more than food, shelter, education and clothing. Although you are providing all of this and much more, your true gift is restoring the childhoods of orphaned children. In church orphan homes, children are loved, cared for, educated, and given every opportunity of family. They are equipped to be leaders in their generation!

What does it mean for an Orphan Care Team to partner with Warm Blankets Orphan Care? Can we see pictures?
Orphan Care Teams partner with Warm Blankets Orphan Care International to provide for all of the needs of orphaned children in a church orphan home. WBOCI will build the church orphan home. We rescue the orphans and get them stabilized. We also find, train, and provide continuing support for the home parents.
Your Orphan Care Team would provide monthly support to care for the kids’ daily needs. In addition to financial support, we hope that you get to know the names, faces, and stories, of the children who live in ‘your’ home. We will provide you with your very own Church Orphan Home web page to update you on the children, the caregivers, and the needs. You can pray for the kids and may even want to visit them someday. It is like extending your family!

What if I join this Orphan Care Team and then my financial situation changes?
We understand that financial circumstances change. There is no contract or minimum term of sponsorship. In months when there is a shortfall WBOCI can cover the difference. If for any reason you need to stop sponsoring the home all together, we will look for another sponsor.
- How many kids are in a home?
It varies from home to home but generally anywhere between 8 and 40 children live in a church orphan home. We are committed to providing home environments and to keeping the ratio of caregivers to children around 1:5.
- Do the children leave when they turn 18?
We do not have an age out policy. Just like your children, these kids have different needs and develop at different paces. It puts unnecessary stress on the children and inhibits a family environment when they grow up knowing this is only home until their 18th birthday. They need to know this is family committed to them and their individual situation.
